Shopaxa was created to solve a problem many Africans face when shopping online international stores that either don’t accept local payment methods or simply don’t ship to Africa.

The idea started when I, Olalekan, the founder of Shopaxa, was in my final year at university preparing for my IT defense. I wanted to buy a pair of shoes from ASOS, but when it was time to check out, my card was declined. I eventually had to ask a friend abroad to help complete the purchase. That moment made me realize that if I was experiencing this problem, thousands of others across the country were likely facing the same thing. From that experience, Shopaxa was born a browser extension that allows people to shop from global fashion stores, even those that don’t deliver to Africa or accept local payments. Shortly after sharing the idea, my co-founder Peter, our CTO, immediately understood the vision and helped bring the product to life.
